PAC is especially proud that Mexican National Television chose to do a one hour special in 2006 of  the group 'Harp Fusion'.  Harp Fusion is a 12 member harp group that stunned the audience in San Carlos with its' exciting repertoire and dynamic performance.

Musicians interested in performing in San Carlos should contact the Artistic Director by e-mailing sancarlosconcerts@yahoo.com.  The Artistic Committee screens, auditions and books all talent for PAC.

PHILANTHROPY

Through the generous donations, grants, gifts and time, The Performing Art Council of San Carlos (PAC) has been able to enrich musical experiences for Mexican children. PAC has supported selected area music teachers and is reaching out to musically interested children in San Carlos who have minimal financial resources.

The first grant received was from the Irish Government in 2002. The grant allowed the musical group MaSamba to be in Mexico for ten days. During their visit they performed in concert in San Carlos and Alamos, led the Mardi Gras Parade in Guaymas, played for the orphanages in Empalme and Guaymas, and played for the children at Ranchitos and Colegio Americano schools.

The PAC Board donated resources to local musician Joe Flores to perform the Pied Piper for children at Santa Clara and Ranchitos schools. Mr. Flores in turn donated the resources to the schools' parent/teacher projects.

Other donations included resources to Rescate (medical emergency non-profit Mexican organization) who arranged for 30 students to attend a Master Class from musicians Chris Montez, Peter Childs and Eddie Ponder. Two gifted students were provided scholarships to attend the Escuela Superior Diosesana de Musica Sacra in Guadalajara, Jalisco.  PAC provided a music teacher for two years for Ranchitos students. Two performing groups extended their stay to do a cultural exchange with Bellas Artes...the Tucson Boys Choir 2005 and Carrol McLaughlin and Harp Fusion 2006.

Donations of instruments have provided gifted and talented children with musical tools they could only dream of. Bobby and Leslie Sahlen (Mamas and Papas) donated four new guitars from the GuitarCenter in Tucson to musically inclined children. Stephen and Zelda Sheppard of Southwest Strings in Tucson donated six new violins that PAC presented to Casa de la Cultura (government cultural school) in Guaymas. PAC purchased a new violin and provided music lessons for a young talented local applicant.

On going musically related projects are presented to the PAC Board by the Philanthropy Director (see tab 'About Us') or e-mail us at sancarlosconcerts@yahoo.com.
